Check out my “Short and…” series, starting with “Short and Sacred”. Each of the pieces in this series can be played in about 60 seconds, which means that they are usually a page or two in length. One of the challenges of being an intermediate player is that the songs get long and can take a month to prepare. So preparing a student to play for Advent, means that they are starting in October. And for Lent, they are starting in the Christmas season. Hopefully a student can start their music much closer to performance and be well prepared.
